Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni to sit out T20 tri-series as BCCI looks to rest at least 5 players: Report

The gruelling Indian cricket schedule has been a major topic of discussion since Indian skipper Virat Kohli openly criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of the ongoing tour of South Africa. But now, with India's T20 tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Bangladesh beckoning, reports suggest that at least five senior Indian players can be rested, as the Board looks to make the most of this opportunity by giving younger guns a chance to perform. While Kohli's name was the first one to pop-up as soon as the discussions over handing youngsters a chance came up, it now seems as if MS Dhoni, who only plays limited overs cricket, will also miss the triangular series and some other big names will join him and Kohli out of the roster too. As per a report in TOI, at least five top Indian cricketers, including skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar KumarJasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, will be rested for the tri-series in Sri Lanka, the BCCI sources confirmed to TOI on Friday. The decision to rest key players in tri-series has been taken keeping in mind the players' fatigue because of the lengthy South African tour. “What is the point of sending these cricketers after such a hectic South African tour,” a team source was quoted as saying by Time news.

Ganguly to BCCI: Lodha Recommendations Not Implemented Due to Time Constraint New Delhi:  Cricket Association of Bengal president Sourav Ganguly and Saurashtra CA boss Madhukar Worah have written to the BCCI about some practical difficulties in amending the constitution of state associations and incorporate all Lodha-recommended reforms. BCCI secretary Amitabh Chaudhary had recently sent a mail to all state associations enquiring about the constitution change, and informed that 13 units have decided to comply and filed an affidavit with regards to the same. Accordingly, Ganguly, in a communication to BCCI (a copy of the letter which is in possession of PTI), wrote: "I beg to state that at the SGM held at Cricket Association of Bengal few months back, it was agreed by the members that in line with BCCI decision, affidavits will be filed in court addressing the honourable Supreme Court about difficulties in implementation of the order at state and BCCI level.
